Glen Canyon was the compromise to save not only Dinosaur NM, but the purpose of the Park Service: "to conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and the wild life therein”. While it was a victory for Dinosaur NM, there were still people who opposed Glen Canyon Dam, and conservationists who saved Dinosaur NM began to question if they should have saved Glen Canyon, the most notable being David Brower of the Sierra Club.

More DamsThe fight for Dinosaur NM did not save everything, dams continued to be built across the West. However, they were no longer being built in Parks and Monuments. While the controversy did not save other places from the Bureau, it did start a conservation movement and people realized that if this could happen at Dinosaur NM, where else could this happen?
